32" of SNOW!

Blizzard of '06! It was AMAZING!

I don't know where it came from or how it happened, but Colorado pretty much just shut down in the past 24 hours. Denver International Airport completely stopped all arriving and departing flights, Interstates 25 and 70 are closed, malls are closed, grocery stores are closed, and even the University of Colorado is closed. Kids all over campus had the option of taking their final exams as usual, postpoining them til January, or accepting their grades as is. Lucky for me, I finished all of my exams before this all started, so I spent the day (mostly) in pajamas and frolicking in the snow. I put on my ski gear, and my roommate lent me her waterproof boots.
This was about 6pm, far before it stopped snowing...it goes to my mid-thighs, about.
Ryan tried to build a fort, but it was just too powdery and too much...

Here is a quick video of me trying to make a snow angel.

So we meandered over to Danny's apartment and baracaded in his window.
This is the view from my living room window. This is this morning, about an hour after it finally stopped snowing.
Zooming in on the bike racks really gives you an idea of how much there is!

KBCO CDs!

It's that time of year again...

KBCO CDs! Every year, our local radio station puts out a CD with tracks of songs recordered here in Boulder. The CD has Blues Traveler, Jack Johnson, G. Love and Special Sauce, Feist, and lots of others. Proceeds benefit the Boulder County AIDS Project, too! It's all good fun, and they sell like hot cakes. They're distributed all over the state, and they sell out within hours. My family has been collecting them since I was eight or so, and of course, I refuse to let the tradition die. Despite the bitter cold, I decided to camp out over night with a few friends!
My car battery died from the cold and old age the night before...so we were forced to take the bus to Ultimate Electronics. Suguna, my roommate from freshman year, and Ryan found ways to entertain themselves during the ride.
The site of the sale! We arrived around 9:30pm Friday night...the store opened at 8am Saturday morning. We were 5th in line!

It was snowing (obviously), and so aside from bringing a ridiculous amount of layers, we decided to bring a tent.

Danny arrived at around 11:30pm...although the photo may not show it, he was definitely excited. Also, I don't think Ryan is capable of taking a normal picture. Ever.

It was a long, cold night...but my parents dropped by with lots of hot chocolate and snacks (thank you, mom and dad!). The night wasn't as eventful as it was last year when we camped out...last year, Ryan and Danny cornered some pigeons in the parking garage, and scared them into pooping on a really nice, shiny Mercedes-Benz. This year was a little more mellow, and involved more sleeping! Starbucks opened at 5am, and we all rushed to relieve our bladders and replenish warmth with some hot beverages. At around 6, KBCO set up their publicity tent. At 8, the doors opened, and....mission accomplished!
