FIRST SNOW, FINALLY!!!

The first snow FINALLY came to BOULDER on Friday!!! It wasn't much, and in true Boulder fashion, the sun was out and melted it all by lunchtime...

...but it was still pretty while it lasted, and I answered it with a perfect winter breakfast: coffee and blueberry-brown sugar oatmeal.

SWE National Conference

I spent November 5 - 9 at the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) National Conference in Baltimore, Maryland! It was a record-breaking attendance, with 5800 collegiate and professional representatives from around the US.

One of the biggest highlights of the conference is the MASSIVE career fair!

It is such madness. Everybody is there...even Facebook was hiring interns! The people from Texas Instruments rode around on segway scooters, the Microsoft people had a Guitar Hero station, another company had an arcade-like car to drive...it was a lot of fun.

I spent most of the conference going to meetings for our region and other section presidents, and networking. I had an interview with GE Aviation (they make jet engines), which went successfully! I got an offer to join them next summer, which I have to do some thinking about.

We were all dressed up for the banquet on the last night, an event called "Celebrate SWE."

Here are all the CU Aerospace women who attended the conference (Leah, me, Shivali, and Jaime):

And the entire CU SWE representation at the conference (yes, boys are allowed in SWE, too!):

We were lucky enough to win awards for the past year's efforts: Outstanding Collegiate Counselor Award (to our awesome counselor, Heather), and Outstanding Collegiate Section - Silver Award!

Another highlight was seeing old friends who have graduated. Julia moved to New York to work for Goldman Sachs, and she was last year's president. We also got to see Jenny, the president before Julia!

We had lots of fun and were able to see Baltimore in some free time, as well. Next year is in LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA!

Halloween 08

For the first time in years, I decided to put in some effort in my Halloween costume. As a result, I decided to be....

A LEGO MAN! Here I am explaining my Senior Design Project to some high schoolers who visited CU on Halloween.

It was a fun day. I walked around school in my costume, as did some friends.

Here I am with Jarryd in Aircraft Design lab. He is a yeti!

He camouflages unusually well ... oh wait, the tree is orange, not green.

Numerical Analysis class...

Everybody who came to class in costume...

Michael dressed as Paulie Bleeker from the movie "Juno"...mostly due to a running joke that Shivali thinks he looks like Michael Cera.

Awkward picture of me at King Soopers.

Roommates Josh and Nick hosted a nice halloween dinner!

Ryan was Rick Astley, and proceeded to Rick-Roll people throughout the night. He got the song and dance down PERFECTLY!

Paulie Bleeker is always training...

For those of you who are fans of Arrested Development, Jeff dressed as Gob...and replicates a familiar scene in the series.

Fun night! Can't wait for next Halloween! I'll have to think of something that tops Legoman.
