Winter Break

It has been a very relaxing few days, with a full house and a full stomach. Shiway and Dave (and Emma) came out to Boulder on Saturday, and Sam has been here since Sunday.

Home during the holidays means lots of cookies!

We have spent lots of time playing with the dogs (Emma and Porter), especially in the snow.

With the whole family here, we had the Iyers over a few nights ago. We've known this family for more than three decades; our dads were in graduate school together. It was a good time seeing everyone!

For Christmas Eve, we started the day with a walk around the Boulder Reservoir area with Patti and Emily. Patti is Shiway's best friend in Boulder, and Emily is her ADORABLE daughter. Emily was a flower girl for Shi and Dave's wedding this summer. During the walk, she enlightened me with some useful knowledge, including the fact that she is probably strong enough to carry Dave, and that she has seen about 29 prairie dogs EVER.

We took the dogs with us, and they were quite eager beavers in the car. Head wedge!!

Porter was so tired after coming home, that he fell asleep. We tried putting as many toys as we could on top of him, and this is about as far as we got.

The night finished off with a traditional Asian Potluck Party. It was fun to see everybody, especially now that the youngest of us (Jeff) is in college. When we were all younger, we used to gather for dinner and video games and movies (the parents would Karoke), and party until about midnight. Glad to say that not much has changed since then. We watched Ratatouille and part of the 24-hour running of A Christmas Story, and caught up on each others' lives.

This morning, we woke up to the first white Christmas that I can remember in ages!

It was so beautiful, and we decided to go to Chautauqua Park for a short pre-lunch hike. The dogs (and people, too) had so much fun!

The dogs are waiting for some treats! Er, T-R-E-A-T-S as Shiway says...Emma is smart enough to know the word "treats", and will drool uncontrollably all over you and the floor if she hears you...

Dave started adventuring...

After tiring ourselves, we went for a delicious Pho lunch.

I wonder why dogs provide such endless entertainment...
